THINK Youre | I 1 SHou.o

Put your problems in a letter to Jane Jordan, who will answer your questions in this column daily.

DEAR JANE JORDAN:

Here 1s another sarviceman’s wife coming to the rescue of Army Wife (whose mother-in-law gives her trouble). * If your would look into these divorces you would find that the mother-in-law is responsible for three-fourths of them. These women start meddiing before the ink is dry on the marriage licenses!

Why don't they give their daugh-ters-in-law a-chance to prove they are doing their best to make good wives? No matter how much a cou-

ple is in love there are adjust ments to make

and if the in-laws would stay away there would be fewer divorces. These mothers act. as though we

girls are trying ® usurp their : p:ace .in the son's . Jane Jordan heart. That's impossible because

the love our husbands have for us is altogether different. Men’s mothers would have an extra special place in the hearts of their sons’ wives if they wouldn't

“be so possessive. They try to prove

to the bewildered and hurt. bride that they, the mothers, know what is best for their sons. For Pete's sake, keep your noses out until we ask for advice, which we will do if necessary and appreciate it, tog. I know quite a few young wives that aren't fit. but don't judge the rest of us by them: Some fathers-in-law are just as bad, making passes at us and getting slapped for their familiarity; also writing to the son saying his wife is stepping out! Grr-r-r! Now you know our side and why we're so sarcastic. -— IRATE ARMY WIFE

do behave as if the daughter-in-law had*usurped their place in the son's affection. It is true that the mother-in-law is back of some divorces. However, this is not universally true by any means. JANI JORDAN.

SACHS GUITRY. MAY TRY MARRIAGE AGAIN,

PARIS, May 16 (U, P.).—Sachs Guitry's fourth wife, the former Genevieve de Cereville, announced yesterday that she is suing the 60-year-old actor-dramatist for divorce. Guitry refused to attend the preliminary ‘reconciliation hearing” and stated that he was prepared to pay Genevieve a monthly alimony of 30,000 francs ($600). The Paris evening’ newspaper “France Soir” said Guitry is to take a fifth bridé—a girl he is said to have met during his recent confinement in Drancy prison, where he was held for a time on suspicion of collaborating with ‘the Nazis. Guitry later was cleared of the

charges. : . His other three wives were the former Charlotte Lyes, Yvonne

Printemps and Jacqueline de Lubac.
