RAIL AGREEMENTS

WASHINGTON, April 16 (U, P.). ~The U. 8. Chamber of Commerce said today that the agreements on rates and services by railroads is “in the public interest” and not a violation of anti-trust laws as the department of justice maintains. A report on carrier agreements issued today by the chamber's transportation committee supports H. R. 2536, now before congress The bill would make any individual rate agreement by two or more rail- + roads immune from antitrust legislation. The bill bears a proviso that such agreements must first be approd by the interstate commerce commission.
