Cooper Boys Back on Line
For Cardinals
By UNITED PRESS CAIRO, Ill, March 23.—The Cooper brothers battery of Pitcher Morton and Catcher Walker was back in action for the St. Louis Cards today, ready to perform as long as Uncle Sam doesn’t break it up. Morton, recently reclassified 4-F, appears safe for the season but Walker is due to be taken for limited service shortly and said he would play as long as his draft board would let him. The Cards, still unable to use their recently flooded diamond, hoped for their first outdoor workout today or tomorrow when Manager Billy Southworth arrives,

Relays Bill Calls for Swift Action
LAFAYETTE, Ind, March 23.—A rapid-fire program of 14 events that will move as fast as the record-seek~ ing competitors has been arranged for the third annual Purdue relays which will provide the climax of the indoor season in the Boiler= maker fleldhouse tomorrow evening. Following out the same policy that has proven exceedingly popular with spectators in the past two years, the time schedule for the colorful games has been drafted so that there will be no dull moments from the opening two-mile relay in the university division ‘at 7:30 o'clock until the thrilling one- -mile relay finale, In Two Divisions Team titles in both university and college divisions will be decided with eight relays, four in each division, and six special events open to both college and university entrants. From the standpoint of the spece tators, added interest will be pro= vided by brief victory ceremonies following the conclusion of each event, at which time the Queen of the Relays and her court of ate
‘| tendants will present medals and ‘| trophies to the place-winning teams
and individuals, The sprint medley, which was substituted for the four-mile relay on last year's program, will again be one of the features of the eve~ ning. The Medley System
In the spring medley, which finds the competitors circling the 10-lap to a mile track like a Fourth of July pinwheel, the leadoff man runs -three laps, the next two men one lap each, and the anchor man five laps. * In addition to the sprint medley, there will be one-mile, two-mile, and distdnce medley relays in both the university and college divisions. The six special.events, which are expected to attract an all-star field, including Big Ten champions in all events, will. be the 60-yard dash, 60-yard low and high hurdles, high Jump, pole vault, and weight put.
