SALVAGE DRIVE STARTS SUNDAY
Catholic Bureau to Use Funds for Youth Organization.
The week of March 11 to 17 has. been set aside as Catholic Salvage Bureau week to collect discarded furniture and clothing to finance the Catholie youth organization ac“tivities. - Discarded articles will be collected | and repaired by salvage bureau | workers and offered for sale at the | salvage bureau store at 453 E.| Washington st. The “money from the salvage project will be used to take care of expenses of the C.Y.O. office and city-wide activities. The expense of the organization's activities in the parishes is taken care of by individual parishes. Twenty-four of the 26 Catholic churches in Indianapolis are active in C.Y.O., with representatives in the senior and junior C.Y.O. youth | councils. The councils are made up of two representatives from each | parish, to plan inter-club affairs’ and to co-ordinate activities. Twelve C.Y.O. units now participate in the C.Y.O. bowling league and 13 in the ping pong league. | About 500 girl members of units serve as hostesses at the Catholic | U.8.0. | Other Activities
Other C.Y.O. activities include a cadet division -which is made up of the Catholic Daughters of America-| troops, Boy and Girl Scout troops; | Junior Catholic Foresters and Camp Fire Girls. Inter-club leagues in: every sport | have now been formed, with 13 units in .the football league, 15 in the basketball, 16 in softball, 13" in | girls’ kickball, and eight units in the junior league program.
