NEW YORK, Feb. 1 (U. P).— Three service wives had a new idea in Valentines today. They sent the usual lace-and-
love cards to their husbands, but they added a card from the Red
Cross blood donor center saying they had just donated pints of blood. “We figure it's straight-from= "the-heart stuff,” Mrs. Amy Lawton McKay, one of the wives, said. “The real thing.”

Need Is Stressed
The need for flood control has been stressed by civio leaders and engineers who have estimated annual flood losses in the state at close to $3,000,000. The proposed new commission “would be empowered to hire a chief engineer and a full-time staff, The G. O. P. policy committee also indorsed in principle the legislative program submitted by the Indiana department of the American Legion, providing for creation of a state department of war veterans’ affairs to conduct a rehabilitation program for returning soldiers.
Decision Deferred
The policy committee deferred a decision on a Legion-sponsored bill now in the house to appropriate $2,500,000 for three new Legion headquarters buildings on the War Memorial Plaza. : Legion spokesmen warned that the national headquarters might be moved from Indianapolis if funds are not available for office expansions.
ENGINEER OVERCOME BY MONOXIDE FUMES
Harvey Roepke, 49, of 1434 Fletcher ave, a yard engineer for the New York Central railroad, was recovering today from the effects of carbon monoxide poisoning. While he was thawing out a bearing yesterday under a locomotive at Union Station, live coals from it were dumped near him, Fumes from . the cinders evidently contained carbon monoxide, police sgid. He was found unconscious by fel-low-workmen and revived by a police emergency squad with the aid of an inhalator.
VIOLATION OF RENTAL CEILINGS ALLEGED
Former county clerk Charles Ettinger, 5790 E. Michigan st. yesterday was charged with violation of OPA rental ceilings. A suit filed in Superior court 3 on behalf of the OPA alleged Mr. Ettinger and his wife overcharged tenants in a building owned by them at 817 Muskingum st. } The OPA charged the Ettingers with collecting $12.50 per unit from | tenants which, according to the . OPA, is $3.50 above the rental ceiling for the property. The suit also named the J. G. McCullough agency, 106 N. Delaware st, agent for the Ettingers, as co-defendant.
MACHINERY SAVED IN 2-ALARM FIRE
Machinery that escaped damage permitted the Commercial Bandblast Co., 1112 Deloss st, to operate as usual today following a twoalarm fire that developed a few minutes after the firm had closed its doors last night. Carl E. Most, 3164 Washington blvd, proprietor, was unable to + estimate the loss which is fully covered by insurance. The fire swept the back of the firm's quarters and was of undetermined origin,

[T'S VITALLY IMPORTANT 10 KEEP PROPER IRON LEVEL IN THE BLOOD
One-ounce dish of KELLOGG'S AlkBran gives over Yard your daily minimum iron needs
VERYONE, young or old, needs iron constantly to help keep up the “iron level” in the blood— to help keep vitality up to par. The best place to get iron is in foods. But—there are only a few foods that have a significant amount of iron. Thus, your diet can be lacking in iron without your knowing it—and your “iron level” may decline. Fortunately, there is one everyday breakfast cereal that is a rich, inexpensive source of readily assimilable iron. It's KELLOGG'S ALL-BRAN, which actually gives you more available iron than _spinach. And, in addition to iron richness, this nut- . brown, crunchy breakfast cereal is an important natural source of calcium, phosphorus, and vita. mins Bi, Bs: and niacin. That's because ALL-BRAN, produced by Kellogg's in Battle Creek, is made from the vital outer layers of finest wheat.
KELLOGG'S All-Bran is made from the VITAL QUTER LAYERS of finest wheat
Yeu know that the skin of a potato and the peel of an apple are richest in vitamins and minerals. In the vital outer layers of wheat, too, Nature stores some of the grain's most important nutrients. ALL-BRAN is made of these vital outer layers and is more'abundant in many food elements than whole wheat itself,
