WASHINGTON, Jan. 25:—Rackets —big and small—aimed at gouging the savings and bonuses of G. Is and veterans, arg cropping up with increasing frequency these days. securities exchange commission, federal trade commission, OPA and other government «agencies are working dally to keep these leeches of society behind bars. Working with the government in this matter is the National Association of Better Business Bureaus. They make a quiet investigation of suspicious operations and if the facts prove that criminal tactics are being used to swindle veterans the case is turned over to the proper agency. One of the most popular forms of chicanery is the phoney employment agency. There are thousands of reliable agencies doing an excellent job. But there are also the fakes which require registration
fees and do “nothing in réturn, or require cash deposits for jobs that don't exist. Q.
