Berle said in a letter to the editor of the Washington Post, pubushed today, that Sforza volunteered the letter, addressed to Berle, and that no conditions were imposed upon his return to Italy.‘ The letter became known during the recent Anglo-American crisis over the formation of a new Italian {government when the British ve[toed Sforza's- participation in that government.
