‘We Are Not Naive’
In the letter to Mr, Churchill, Mr. ew e said: “We are not naive here in the American Middlewest; we do not believe that what we think matters greatly to you one way or another, but we cannot refrain from expressing our horror at the inecidents in Greece and Belgium, and to a lesser extent even in Italy. “We are deeply concerned about your apparent policy of imposing governments upon peoples of Europe which - you solid and not leftist, regardless of whether the people of these countries want them.
“More in Sorrow ...”
“We are writing you more in sorrow than in anger or protest because we feel that tremendous as was your contribution to the victory of the united nations, your policy is laying a basis for the destruction of thie united nations and for longtime civil strife and disorder throughout much of the world.” In the telegram to Mr, Stettinius, Mr. Frisbie said: °

Greece must be ended. Armies of the united nations must bring liberation to the people of Europe, not new masters.”
