DEAR JANE JORDAN—Before

was jealous of my husband. He was handsome and had an exceptional education while I was plain and never very smart in school. I was terribly in awe of him and developed an inferiority complex. Five years ago trouble began when he had to work several nights a week. Knowing how plain I was I would torment myself with thoughts of the beautiful

young girls with whom he came in contact. When my sister saw him having dinnen with his stenographer I felt that my suspicions were confirmed. I accused him of everything. He denied nothing but only looked at me with pity and contipued to remain away from home at nights, Three years ago - I wrote to you. - Your advice was Similar to what you are giving women every day in your column, and I, like they, felt you gave my husband the benefit of the doubt. I would have felt better had you “flayed him in print.” I did, however, follow your advice to become interested in new things and make new acquaintances. I planned my life, injecting something new and interesting into each day. Gradually my husband's nights . away from home didn't bother me , 80 much because I had things to do. . nothing began to diminish, I took an interest in new clothes. I subscribed to magazines and even though paintings and music didn't mean a thing to me I went to everything open to the public just to dress up and go some place. It helped me overcome my feeling of inferiority and I absorbed enough gnowiedge to hold a fairly interest ing conversation, E I do not know when my husband realized there was a change in me, but about two years ago he began to pay more attention to me, to what I did and thought. I have been happier in the last two years than ever before. My face is still plain but I have tried to make that plainness interesting and feel I have succeeded. My husband

Lately I have felt a little embarrassed about these meetings as my pregnancy is becoming too apparent, but he says it is something to be proud of, and I am awfully proud. After giving advice which so often has been spot upon by angry wives, finally I hear from a woman who actually tried the unwelcome suggestion and got resuits! At least here is one case where a change of attitude on:the part of the wife brought about a change of attitude on the part of the husband.
