ARNOLD LAUDS WASP

SWEETWATER, Tex., Dec. 8 (U. P.).~When another national emergency arises, the nation can depend upon its women to fly military aircraft wing to wing with its men, Gen, H. Gen, Arnold paid tribute to women air force service pilots here today as the last class was graduated from Avenger field, and deactivation of the WASP organization was begun. The general described the WASP program as “a pioneer venture,” not entirely experimental, and now “an accomplishment.” It demonstrates the value of women as pilots of the fastest fighters or the heaviest

INDUCTING FATHERS

PITTSBURGH, Dec. 8 (U, P.).— Despite a state selective service headquarters « directive to induct fathers on schedule regardless of the - approaching *holiday season, the Allegheny county draft board No. 18, serving the McKees Rocks area, will not induct seven young fathers into service next Tuesday. “We don't feel like sending these fathers off while there are still boys over 18 sitting in high school classes,” one hoard member declared. i There were “five or six” youths of draft age in high school, the board member added, and said that their inductions were postponed until the end of the semester. This caused the shortage in the induce tion quota, he said. ——————————————————
