In addition they had an urge to promote America’s new position in the air, “One of these men was a pioneer in making a full-time job of aviation reporting,” he continued. “To that job he brought great sincerity and an intense inspirational quality, the same qualities that more recently have made him one of the best-loved war correspondents. I refer to Ernie Pyle. “Then there loomed another with an entirely different technique,” Mr. Howard said. “This man’s style

zeal to make America the world’s most air-minded nation. That man is Maj. Al Williams.
“And last to be named,” he continued, “but generally first with the facts is that super-salesman of aviation, Max Cook. “It is as the representative of such men as these that I am here,” he said, “It is on behalf of all editors and reporters interested in promoting every sound development in American aviation that I accept this award. I assure you of our. keen appreciation of this honor and of your generous recognition. “Public interest in aviation will be of vital importance to both the nation and aviation,” he said. “There is one sure, way’ to promote and maintain that interest. Keep the press agent out and let the reporter in. Do that and American journalism and American aviation will have a long flight together with: many happy landings.” Among the distinguished airmen at the dinner were Maj. Alexander P. De Seversky, Air Commodore Douglas L. Blackford, British air attache, and Admiral Rosendahl, previous winner of the award.
CAUTION URGED ON POST-WAR PROJECTS
The Indiana Township Trustees association was warned today against rushing headlong into post war projects immediately after the war,
“Too many projects first year after the war will result in tremendous . increases in property taxes,” declared Walter Horn, executive secretary of the Indiana Taxpayers’ association.
“Post-war projects should be planned over a period of several years and thus spread the tax load more evenly,” he said. The trustees’ association is meeting in annual convention with the County and Township Officials association at the Claypool hotel. Sessions of all affiliated organizations will end tomorrow with the election of officers and final committee reports. wan

That is supplying the initial impetus for planes to take off with heavy loads on short landing strips, Linke said. The 49th annual meeting of the National Association of Manufactur=ers changed its original plan of concentrating on post-war problems to include and stress the war effort. Four thousand industrialists are attending. William P, Witherow, president of the Blaw-Knox Go., Pittsburgh, said that 49 per cent of industry will be able to swing over into full production the day the government gives a green light.
