sonville, 8. C., was awarded the air medal yesterday for saving a glider from crashing into a mountainside by holding the ends of a broken
aileron cable in his bare hands. The glider went out of control when it was cut loose from the towship during a practice flight. Shelton wrapped the ends of the control cable around his hand, braced himself, and held on for 20 minutes while the pilot landed the glider safely.
