. ‘Simmons Road PITTSBURGH, Dec. 1 (U, P). —Somewhere in Normandy allied supplies and troops move toward: Germany on a road whose signpost bears the inscription, “Simmons road"—in tribute to a Pittsburgh soldier's sacrifice.

“While in Pittsburgh; the tribute: to heroic 29-year-old Pvt. Jolin H. Simmons served as some consolation to his grief-stricken widow, Mrs. Alice Simmons, and

' Honors Gl Hero his whom he had never seen. Pvt. Simmons, who had been in the service 15 months, was killed during the invasion of France in June. a few months after he ar= ‘ rived overseas.

Recently, a war department letter informed Mrs. Simmons of her husband’s. heroism and enclosed a picture of the road, at an unspecified location, that honors him.
