PA - i Jenner Gets Mail Addressed To VanNuys and Jackson

Times Special WASHINGTON, Dec. |, — Senator Frederick VanNuys (D. Ind.) died Jan. 25, but mail addressed to him still arrives daily at the senate office building. It now is delivered to short-term Senator William E. Jenner (R. Ind.), who took over from Senator Samuel D. Jackson (D. Ind), Senator VanNuys’ successor by appointment. Senator Jenner was elected to fill out VanNuys' term, which expires Jan. 3, 1945. Most of the mail still addressed to Senator VanNuys now consists of form letters sent out from mail-

ing lists. But for months after his death, numerous letters arrived at Senator Jackson's office addressed to Senator VanNuys and sent by constituents in Indiana with personal problems to solve and asking senatorial aid, Now much of Senator .Jenner's mail comes addressed to Senator Jackson, It comes from Indiana, where numerous citizens stem not to have understood the result of the short-term election. Handling this complicated triple-

addressed mail is Miss Wilma Aber,

who has served under all three senators. Latest addition to the Jenner staff is Miss Mary Jane Bensinger, Sullivan, "Ind., who came here to train for work with Senatotr-elect Homer E. Capehart (R. Ind), who takes office Jan. 3 for the full sixyear term, Upon arrival here Senator Jenner became the junior member of the senate. But this week Senator Wilton E. Hall was sworn in as successor to the late Senator “Cotton Ed” Smith of ‘South Carolina, so Senator Jenner ranks him in seniority,
