VETERANS’ JOB BILL PASSED BY SENATE

WASHINGTON, Nov. 30 (U. P.). -The senate has passed unanimously and sent to the White House a bill tg amend the selective service act to give discharged servicemen 90 days in which to apply for their old jobs. Present Hme limitation is 40 days.

Services for Miss. Theresa O'Connor, who died yesterday in St. Vincent hospital, will be at 10 a. m. Saturday in the SS. Peter and Paul cathedral, Burial will be in Holy Cross cemetery. Miss O'Connor, who was 80, was the last living member of the family of M. O'Connor, wholesale grocer. She was a member of SS. Peter and Paul cathedral -and donated the Blessed Sacrament chapel to the church. In June, 1939, she received a medal from the pope entitled “Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice.” The award was made in behalf of the pope by Archbishop-elect Joseph E. Ritter at ceremonies in the cathedral. During the same ceremonies, Elmer A. Steffen, diocesan music director and a cousin of Miss O'Connor, was knighted in the Order of St. Gregory by order of the

In addition to her donations to the church, she frequently contrib uted funds to Cathedral high school, . She was born in Madison in April, 1864, and had lived in Indianapolis most of her life. For many years she made her home witly her sister, the late Mrs. Mary Ready, 1215 N. Pennsylvania st. A brother, William O'Connor, former president of the M. O'Connor & Co., died Feb. 19, 1944. Several nieces and nephews including Mrs. George T. O'Connor, Indianapolis, survive,

Victor A. Simon, chef on the Big Four railroad 28 years, died yesterday in his home, 458 W. 26th st. A member of the Bethel A. M, E. church, he retired in 1940 and worked for city hotels. He was 69. Survivors include his wife, Celia M.; a stepson, C. Glen Stewart,
