‘Irish Eyes’ At Indiana

Technicolor Crammed With Rich Tunes.

You can put on your. best green outfit and go down to the Indiana

b'gorry there's good Irish entertainment in “When Irish Eyes Are Smiling.” The new technicolor musical is crammed with such. rich tunes as “Mother Machree,” “Boy o' Mine,” “When Irish Eyes Are Smiling,” “A Little Bit of Heaven” and “Let the Rest of the World Go By.” The picture, of course, is cen= tered around the music with Dick Haymes and June Haver, one of the" stars in “Home in Indiana,” doing most of the singing. The story isn't much different from the hundreds of others written about composers. Revolving around the.life of Ernest R. Ball, composer of sentimental ballads, the film ‘is full of color’ and humor. Monty Woolley is cast as the fabulous man-about-town Edgar Brawley, former gold mine operator, race horse owner, snake oil salesman and get-rich-quick specialist who walks backwards into the lives and romance of Mary “Irish” O'Brien (June Haver) and Efnest Ball (Dick Haymes). The part is made to fit Monty and he takes full advantage of this. Miss Haver has a wicked left and a typical Irish temper. She leaves Haymes with a black eye and goes to New York but he risks his life in the ring to get enough money to follow Her. Leonard Warren, Metropolitan opera star who sang at Cadle tab-

-lernacle, two weeks ago, and Miss

Blanche Thebom, Met singer, give the most outstanding vocal performance in their singing of Irish favorites,

Please Folks -

YOU HAVE THE ANSWER!

And I have a problem I can’t answer, myself

—but you can!

I'm in Holland—on the bloodiest, muddiest— most magnificent job 1 ever had. I administer blood plasma—and whole blood—to- give these American guys their round-trip ticket back “to the States.” They'll breathe blue sky again—and

sunlight. They'll be alive—alive to ask their girls someday: “What's that silly thing you're wear-

a hat?”

We'need five pints of blood for every one of them. And we have only two—not even half

What am I going to do? I'm just one guy. I give my blood every time they'll let me. But

that’s not near enough.

Please, folks, won't you answer my problem?

Center tomorrow and send me a pint of American blood? Won't you? You see, | love these guys—

and I'm going to send them back—if I can: .

But I'm scared about these other guys . . . These hale and hearty lads who may become argent my patients. What if there isn’t enough plasma and whole blood to go around? What happens to them?
