OPA TO CHECK ON TRAVEL GAS
Program Planned to Prevent Illegal Use of Rations This Winter. -
An enforcement program to prevent illegal use of gasoline rations in winter vacation travel was being prepared today bythe Indiana district OPA.
Last spring thousands of motor-|
ists—many of them from Indiana — were stranded in Florida and other southern states. . Motorists who use B and C gasoline for vacation travel will be hailed. before OPA hearing commissioners who are authorized to revoke not only the supplemental rations but the basic A ration, too, OPA officials said.
Since some Indiana boards are known to have issued rations last winter for + “health” reasons—although this is 1llegal—thus permit= ting residents:to go south, district office executives were preparing to avoid a repetition. .
