"$700 LIFTED FROM POLAR ICE CO; SAFE

A safe burglary, a robbery and a double purse-snatching were reported to police over the week-end. Thé safe at the Polar Ice & Fuel Co. sub-station at 317 W, 16th st. was broken open and $700 taken, Ray - Williams, the manager, reported. ‘Harold Finney, 48, of 3059 N. Tacoma ave, was slugged by three men as he stopped his car at 12th st. and Traub ave. last night. He told police the trio had taken $300, a watch and diamond ring. A man and boy snatched the purses of two women at 13th and Illinois sts, Saturday night and outran pursuers. Mrs, Opal Johnson, 1226 N. Illinois st, reported the theft of $85 and Mrs, Mary Hardy of the same address, said her purse contained $35.
