Dearos present an acrobatic act in- keeping with the circus theme and even a clown, Sunny Jim ‘Gerber, adds his bit to transform the stage into a sawdust ring. Daring Troupe The three members of the Nelson troupe, formerly with Cole Cole Brothers’ circus, present a daring act, bouncing into the air from a mat and almost defying gravity as they turn flip-flops in mid air. The three Orantos also do acrobatics, of a different nature. The two men and one girl get the audience on the edge of their seats as they juggle each other high in the air, Jack Klein acts as emcee, “Call of the South Seas” starring Janet Martin and Allan Lane, is the screen offering. ‘Together Again’ Comedy-Romance

“Together Again” is a story of lightning that strikes twice in the same place, a statue that loses its head and a fluffy hat that changes a woman's life. Irene Dunne and Charles Boyer play the romantic leads in this picture, which opened yesterday at Loew's. Charles Coburn again is typed as Cupid's right hand man who manages by one amusing ruse to bring the lovers together. It's highly amusing, and one of the most original stories filmed in

Miss Dunne is Mayor

Miss Dunne is the beautiful but businesslike mayor of Brookhaven, a narrow-minded small town which worships its former mayor, her late husband. Mr. Coburn persuades her she's getting in a rut and should think about getting married and having a little fun. He sends her to New York to engage a sculptor to make a new statue of her late husband, in place of the previous one, which was decapitated by. lightning one stormy night, Mr. Boyer is the sculptor, who loses no time in pursuing and wooing the lady. with laughter as hilarious “Sons O' Fun” opened for a three- night

stay. The madhouse went into action even before the curtain went up. As cash customers came through the door they were insulted by Comedian Al Meyers and Head Usher Al Ganz showed them anywhere but to their seats. Opening ‘the show was a “Simphony” by long haired musicians who filled the orchestra pit. The audience participation stunt, made popular by Olsen and Johnson in their “Hellzapoppin,” prevailed throughout the show and beautiful young girls paraded down through the audience, selecting recruits for the stage.

Old-Fashioned Auction

One of the dances ended up with men patrons wearing each others coats while the old-fashioned auction resulted in plenty of good laughs and valuable prizes. The belles of the ball were June Johnson, who helped out in the comedy skits, and Marilyn Ross, who was featured in musical numbers. But the parts you'll laugh at most are the balcony heckler, a woman's shouts for Oscar at regular intervals demanding to know who's going to take care of this baby, the mind reading skit, the mystery hour with its hats and ghosts and apes filling the darkened theater. “Sons O’ Fun” is good exercise for the funny bones and will play tonight and tomorrow night with a matinee tomorrow.

PIPER PILOTS DEVISE OWN SECRET WEAPON

WASHINGTON, Nov. 17 (U. P.).— Two army Piper Cub artillery spotters in France, envious of rocketcarrying Thunderbolt fighters, have invented a new secret weapon of their own—the ‘grasshopper-borne bazooka,” the war department revealed today. “Figuring we ought to have something to shoot with,” Lts. Harley Merrick, Richmond, Cal, and Roy Carson, San Francisco, picked up four bazookas from an ordnance salvage dump and fastened one to the underside of each of the wings of their small planes. Then they went out to do battle. Lt. Carson now has a Panther tank and two enemy machine-gun nests to his credit. Lt. Merrick knocked out two German cargo trucks and has har-

HOPE FOR SHORT CONGRESS FADES

WASHINGTON, Nov. 17.—The hope of congressional leaders for a | short, non-controversial closing session of the 78th congress faded rapidly today. Senator George D. Aiken (R. Vt.) was determined to press for action on the proposed St. Lawrence river seaway-power project. Confronted with equally determined opposition by senators from along the lower Mississippi, the issue involved the fate of nearly $1,500,000,000 worth of post-war river and harbor improvements. Senator Aiken's proposal would authorize a $421,000,000 Great Lakes-St, Lawrence seaway project involving locks to permit oceangoing traffic as far inland as Duluth, Minn, as well as hydro-electric power generation. And he was ready to attach It as a rider to either one of the two bills which the southern senators favor, ‘ Senator John H. Overton (D. La.) leading the anti-seaway bloc, appeared to have won the first round temporarily yesterday,
