Committee Loses Four ~ Jsolationists.
‘By Scripps-Howard Newspapers WASHINGTON, Nov. 10.—The chances of senate approval of the nited nations world peace .organizas tion have been considerably im-

The foreign relations committee passes first on all treaties, before they are submitted to the full senate. : Records Ratified
In addition to the elimination of four to five members of the committee, the senatorial records of four others, who have stanchly supported American co-operation in the, world peace organization, have been ratified by the voters. The outstanding isolationist mem-~ ber of the committee defeated Tuesday is Senator Gerald P. Nye (R. IN. DJ. Earlier this year, Senator Robert R. Reynolds (D. N. C) announced

" Senator Guy M. Gillette (D. Ia), who often bucked the Roosevelt administration on domestic and foreign issues, was defeated for reelection, and Senator James J. Davis (R. Pa.) is still trailing his Democratic opponent. But, voters re-elected Senators Robert F', Wagner (D.N.Y.), Claude Pepper (D. Fla.) and Alben Barkley (D. Ky», all enthusiastic supporters of the President's foreign program, as well as Senator Walter F. George (D. Gal). Fate may create two other vacancies on the foreign relations committee. Senator Carter Glass (D. Va.) is in his 87th year, and hasn't attended a senate session for months. Similarly, Senator Hiram Johnson (R. Cal), one of those who helped kill senate ratification of the peace treaty after the last war, is in poor health, and Llately has spent more time away | from the senate than in it. He is 78.
