113,000 Tons Dropped on Germany During October.

DISHER United Press Staff Correspondent LONDON, Nov, 3.~American and British bombers dropped more than 113,000 tons of bombs—226,000,000 pounds of steel and explosives—on Germany Jast month, it was announced today. The record tonnage was disclosed as more than 1000 R. A. F. heavy . bombers sent the November phase * of the aerial destruction of Germany into its third day. ? The heaviest raid vob + on Germany’s inland port, railway hub and arms center of Dusseldorf was made last night.

Dusseldorf Bombed

More than 4000 tons of explosives were dropped on Dusseldorf, Rhine river stronghold 40 miles northeast of American-held Aachen; R. A. F. and American bombers already had reduced to ruins.a maJor portion of Cologne, the other major objective ahead of the American 1st army. R. A. F. bombers alone in October cascaded 56,700 tons of bombs on Germany, Heavy bombers of the 8th U. 8. air force in Britain contributed 43,600. The 15th U. 8, air force in Italy added 13,100 tons—for a grand total of at least 113,400 tons. The bomb tonnage, almost astronomical by pre-war standards, lent weight to the warning of the allied supreme command that Germany would be blasted and burned from end to end this winter, while allied armies close in from three sides.
