\ Pastor Had Served St. Mark’s Lutheran Church 25 Years.

Services for the Rev. Reiner H. Benting, former president of the Indiana synod of the United Lutheran church, will ‘be at 2 p. m. Wednesday in St. Mark’s Lutheran church. Burial will be in Washington Park cemetery. : The Rev. Dr. H. E. Turney, president of the synod, will conduct the services and the body will lie in state at the church starting at 10 a. m. Wednesday. Dr. Benting, who was 54. died last night at his home, 1121 Linden st. after an illness of three weeks. The Rev. Mr. Benting had been pastor of St. Mark’s church for 25 years and, during that time, the congregation had grown from 80 to more than 1000. Part of the present building was erected in 1922 and was completed in 1927 at a cost of $150,000. ° He was a native of Illinois and grew up there and in North Dakota. He entered the ministry in Toledo, Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Olga {Benting; two sisters, Mrs. Arthur Mergenthal of Hillsboro, N. D.. and Mrs, Otto Bohlen of Corona, 8S. D.: and six brothers, John of Minneapolis, Minn, Herman and Martin, both of Hillsboro, and Ben, Henry and Simon Benting, all of Corona.

He was 45, had been employed by the Pennsylvania railroad for 28 vears and was a trainmaster at the time of his death, ; Mr. Martin was a member of the Zion church, Prospect Masonic {lodge, Sahara Grotto and the Local i Trainmen’s union, Surviving are his wife, Edna; a son, Ensign Charles Martin with the navy, and five brothers, Calvin, Howard and Edwin Martin all of Indianapolis, and Leon and Haddy Martin, both of Detroit, Mich.

HERMAN HAMMER The Rev. E. H. Klingel, pastor of St. Paul's Evangelical and Reformed church, ‘will conduct the services for Herman H. Hammer, 2219 Nowland ave, at 1:30 p. m. Wednesday in the Harry W. Moore peace chapel. Burial will be in Crown Hill, Mr. Hammer, who was 66, died yesterday. He had been employed for 17 years at the Mead drugstore, 646 Massachusetts ave, and had lived in Indianapolis for 60 years. Mr. Hammer was a member of Center lodge No. 23, F. and A.
