circles today indicated that a “gov-
lished in northern Norway" if Rus-
| sian forces moved across the frontier in pursuit of Germans at- { tempting to flee from Finland. This would probably be the first { hmited step in returning the Nor- | wegian government to Oslo, from which it fled nearly five years ago to €xile in Britain. News that the Russians have reached Petsamo has heartened Norwegians here. Even so, they fear that Norway will be the last country in Europe to be liberated from the Nazis and that their rugged homeland may become a battleground again before the enemy is eliminated.

If Norwegian governmental authority could set up on even a small piece of home soil, it undoubtedly would have a valuable psychological effect on the Norwegian people. The Russian advance to Petsamo. directly threatens the Germans’ three most important escape ports in the bleak northern Norwegian province of Finmgark, where communication except by water is next to impossible. > The biggest and best of these is Kirkenes. The Germans made this harbor and mining center an important military base. The Red

LOCAL SCIENTISTS
“What the world needs today is . +. joyous confidence in answered prayer: In the home, on the playground, in business, in school, on the battlefield , . .” Earl McCloud, C.S.B. Christian Science lecturer, told his audience last night in the Murat theater, Mr. McCloud, San Antonio, spoke on “Christian Science: The Religion of Joyous Attainment.” He recalled that the chapter on prayer in the Christian Science textbook points out the proper way of approaching God and shows that divine love is ever available to all mankind, under all circumstances. Mr, McCloud said further: “In his overcoming of sickness, lack, sorrow, sin and death—for himself and others—he (Jesus) revealed the Christ as that saving, healing manifestation of God which had been shown to the ancient prophets, and which is available to us here, today.”

Dreamland Tour
LONDON, Oct. 256 (U., P).— Dr. Alexander Cannon of the Isle of Man wrote today in the “Medical Press and Circular” that war-weary workers and othe ers just plain tired can be ree freshed and revitalized by short wave hypnotism, “The, jaded, tired and wornout worker in this dreamland of hypnosis can be made to walk along the seashore on a warm, sunny day with a cool, refreshing breeze as he breathes slowly and deeply to feel magnetic power being drawn in through the palms of his hands and the soles of his feet as he leisurely walks until he feels wonderful, simply marvelous,” Dr. Cannon said. He thinks hypnotism may be based on wave lengths in some way common to so-called short waves in the electronic spectrum. After a subject has gone through 20 to 40 minutes of the described ministration, Dr. Cannon said, “He can then be awakened with no recollection of his dreamland tour, but with a feeling of energy and power and a revitalization which may last
