Correspondent Held by Japs To Highlight Convention fF Operfing Oct. 26.
Principal speaker at the opening - session of the Indiana State Teachers association convention, to be eld Oct. 268 in Cadle tabernacle, will be James R. Young, for 13 years & newspaper correspondent in Japan and later a war prisoner. He will discuss “Can America Survive in the Far East?” The 91st. annual convention of | the association will open with a talk by Miss Virginia Kinnaird, president, who will preside over the two-day meeting. She will present | H. B.. Allman, Muncie schools, superintendent, with a gold key and | a life membership certificate upon his retirement from active teaching. A lobby sing will be held in the Claypool hotel following the opening session, with a general reception for association officers and state officials in the Riley room. Forty-four departmental meetings will be held morning and afternoon of the opening day.
Reports Are Due
Emil Ludwig, internationally known author, will be the principal speaker at the final night session Oct. 27. His subject will be, “How to Treat the Germans After Defeat.” At the afternoon session, Mrs. Edgar Ansel Mowrer, author of “Journalist's Wife,” will speak on “The War and Tomorrow's Children.” A program by the In- _ dianapolis Symphony orchestra will follow the talk. Other final-day activities will include a program by the Indiana State Choral Festival association, in which 600 students will participate under direction of Peter Tkach, conductor. He is supervisor of music for Minneapolis schools, Business committee reports will be made by I. O. Foster, Robert H. Wyatt, association executive-
