ARMY LISTS 300,382 PRISONERS IN U. S.

The war department revealed ves terday that 300,382 prisoners of war were held within the continental |. limits of the United States as of

Oct. 1.

There were 248,205 Germans, 51,034 Italians and 1143 Japanese at 131 base camps and approximately 300 branch camps in all sections of | the United States. The branch, camps are designed to place pris-! oners near current work projects. |
