Find Industry Workers’ “3 Average Only Little - Lower Than 1942.

By Science Service

NEW YORK, Sept, 28.~The average length of life of America’s i= dustrial workers in 1943 was 63.56 years, only slightly lower than that

This was true despite a spread outbreaks of

rank and file of the civilian tion for living to a ripe old age remains practically unchanged in our second year of war, the statisticians point out. Among white men over 35 and all

life in 1943 was only three months less than in the preceding year. But the longevity among white men of 20 was reduced by more than one year during 1943. Last year the death rate among white male policyholders at age 20 was higher than at age 30. Likewise the death rate among those at 25 was higher than at 35. The increased death rate among young men has also widened the difference in mortality among the sexes. During the last pre-war year, for every 10 girls who died, 13 white men passed away. During 1943, however, for every 10 deaths among girls, there were 30 among the men. The war 50 far seems to have had little or no effect on the longevity of the colored people. The average length of life of the colored people is now at the level reached by white people two décades ago.
