Kenneth R. Bishop, 11, 2846 N. Gladstone ave, was in City hospital with a serious head injury received when he collided “head-on” with his brother, Donald, 9, as they were running toward each other. Dallas Nauert, 8, of 437 Parkway ave, was slightly injured when. he fell 25 feet out of a second-story door at a vacant building in the 1300 block, Madison ave.

Nazis Gird to Halt Threat| : Against Gateway to
Northern Italy.
ROME, Sept. 21 (U. P.) —American troops advancing north of Florence approached the famous Futa pass through the Apennines today iit signs that'the Germans were shifting troops from the west to meet the threat against that gateway to northern Italy, ° Fighting in a driving rain which
hampered ground forces and re. stricted aerial support, the U, 8. 5th army captured five mountain peaks and pushed near the village
of Futa pass and itself a part of the German defenses for the pass.

Other 5th army units on the Ligurian sea coastal sector approached the outskirts of the town of Pietrasanta, on the Lucca-Massa highway, three miles inland and six miles north of Viareggio. Pietrasanta is four miles northwest of Camaiore, which was captured yesterday by Brazilian expeditionary force troops operating with the 5th army. Heavy fighting continued in the Adriatic sector, where British 8th army troops edvanced on Rimini, coastal city on the southern edge of the Po valley.
