It simply states a fact. I do not admire philandering men or defend their behavior which is disastrous to marriage. I do not regard them as excessively masculine creatures at the mercy of their own instincts. On the contrary, they are more often men who doubt their masculinity to the extent that they seek constant conquests - for reassurance. This is the reason why it is good tactics for any wife to build up “an ego so weak that it must run to another woman to be bolstered up whenever it has been devaluated at home. I do npt recommend the doormat role for any wife. Divorce is a social institution designed to open the door of matrimonial prisons. Too often the wife who is legally entitled to divorce can't get it’be-

cause she is unable to care for herself and her children on what little the husband is able to give in lieu of alimony. I maintain that there is a definite difference between realism and martyrdom. Realism puts up with a tough situation wherein no immediate rearrangement is possible, and makes the best of it. Martyrdom puts up with it, too, but in quite a different spirit. It is as.if the martyr dished out for himself
