HARRELL F. MOSBAUGH, director of the state division of fish and game said that indications point to a better squirrel season this year than in 1943. . . . The Indiana season on squirrels opens today arx closes Oct. 8 Mr, Mosbaugh has just completed a report from 74 conserv ation officers representing the 92 Indiana counties. . He said that 59 officers report more squirrels this year than last year, 14 report the same amount, and one reported less, Thirty-nine officers reported that there was jabout the same amount of food available for squirrels, while 26 report ted less food, and nine reported more food. The harvest of squirrels by hunters during the 1943 season was

320,780 gray squirrels, and 1,210,388 fox squirrels, making a total of

1531118... . In 1942 the total] taken by hunters was 1,411,354, and in 1941 the total was 1,354,360. In view of these figures, Mr. of the squirrel population indicates an increase. « @
