Times Special GREENFASTLE, Ind., Aug. 10.— DePauw university announced today the appointment of John Toms, former head of the voice department at the University of North Carolina, as associate professor of voice and choral music, Professor Toms holds degrees from the University of Michigan and the Oberlin conservatory and has studied under several private teachers. He also has taught at Central college, Ia, William Penn college, Ia., and Mary Hardin-Bay-lor college, Tex. He had been at North Carolina since 1936,
