Band to Play on North

Terrace ' Tonight.

The Indianapolis concert band will play on the north terrace of the Brookside community center at 8 .o'clock tonight under the direction of William Schumacher. Members of the. Brookside park unit of the American Red Cross will sponsor the concert, and the

arrangements committee includes Mesdames Rush Williams, Oscar Nordberg, Joseph Becker, Grace

The concert is the fifth of a series planned at Brookside park on Wednesday nights. The band has entertained at Garfield park three times earlier this summer. Technical high school’s summer choir of 30 voices, directed by J. Russel Paxton, will entertain during the intermission. The band program follows:

SHIPS TO BE NAMED FOR GENERALS’ HOMES

WASHINGTON, Aug. 2 (U. P).— Two navy frigates will be named for the home towns of two top ranking U. 8. invasion generals, navy radio said yesterday. Adm. Ernest J. King suggested the naming of the vessels, the navy said. One frigate will bear the name of Abilene, home town of Gen. Dwight D. Eisenhower, in Kansas, The other, in honor of the home town of Lt. Gen. Omar N. Bradley, will be named for Moberly, Mo. Both vessels, which have been launched and are now being fitted out, were constructed at the Globe Shipbuilding Co. yards at Superior, Wis.
