Alexander Helps Save Span Pfc. Harold R. Alexander, 637 S. Meridian st., is one of the marines credited with saving a west coast wooden railway bridge that caught fire while they were nearby on a training problem. He is stationed at Camp Pendleton, Oceanside, -Cal.

Rev. Boyer Quits Pastorate Here
The Rev. Harold W. Boyer, pastor of the South Side Church of God, Pine and Elm sts. has resigned to accept the pastorate of the First
[Church of God in St. Louis, Mo.
He will assume his new - duties Aug, 13. Active in Indianapolis religious life, the Rev. Mr. Boyer had been the pastor at the South Side Church of God for six years. During his service there, the church debé has been paid and the mortgage burned, a Sunday school annex added, a new electric organ installed and a new parsonage purchased. Other improvements to the building and equipment also have been made. Leader of the WIBC radio broadcast, “Words of Life,” he will be heard at the regular broadcast hour, 10:15 to 10:45 p. m., tomorrow and next Sunday before leaving for St. Louis. He will preach his farewell sermon the evening of Aug. 6. The Rev. Albert Crim of Marion will succeed the resigning pastor and will preach his first sermon Aug. 13. The Rev. Mr. Boyer and his tan ily, who live at 913 Iowa st., will leave for St. Louis Aug. 7.
MISSIONS EXECUTIVE TO TELL OF JAPAN
Dr. J. Gordon Holderoft, general secretary of the Independent Board of Presbyterian Foreign Missions, will be the guest speaker at a meeting sponsored by the First Bible Presbyterian church at 7:45 p. m. Tuesday in the Jordan conservatory. Dr. Holdcroft was a missionary in Japan for many years and took his present office on returning to the United States. His talk will describe -his experiences in Japan and outline the work of the mission board.
