CONVENTION HEADQUARTERS, Chicago, July 21 (U.P). —Following is the text of the Democratic ‘party platform:

The Democratic party stands on {its record in peace and war. “To speed victory, establish and Jmaintain peace, guarantee full employment and provide prosperity— this is its platform. We do not here detail scores of planks. We cite action.
I
Beginning March; 1933, the.Democretic administration took a series of actions which saved our system of free enterprise. It brought that system ‘out of collapse and thereafter eliminated abuses which ‘had imperiled it. It used the powers of government to provide employment in industry and to save agriculture. It wrote a new magna carta for labor. It provided social security, including old age pensions, unemployment insurance, security for crippled and dependent children and the blind. It established employment offices. It provided federal bank deposit in-

It adopted an effective program o: reclamation, hydro-electric power and mineral development. It found the road to prosperity through production and employment. We pledge the continuance and [improvement of these programs.
Before war came, the Democratic administration awakened the nation, in time, to the dangers that threatened its very existence, It succeeded in building, in time, the best-trained and equipped army in the world, the most powerful navy in the world, the greatest air force in the world, and the largest merchant marine in the world. It gained for our country, and {ii saved for our country, powerful allies. When war came, it succeeded in working out with those aliles an effective grand strategy against the enemy. Will Prosecute War
It set that strategy in motion, and the tide of battle was turned. It held the line against wartime inflation. / It ensured a fair share-and-share alike distribution of food and other essentials. It is leading ougcount try to certain victory.

Mrs. Luce across’ his knee—figuratively “speakifig—and spanked her for having brought the spirit of a dead soldier (G. I. Jim) into this convention hall last month, Leaning over the podium as if he were chatting with a couple of friends, instead of addressing a jam-packed crowd of 30,000, Reynolds confided: “Now I do not propose to speak for your son abroad, and I would never commit the unholy sacrilege of speaking for his dead brother who had been killed in combat.” Then came the spanking for Mrs. Luce: “No man—or woman—can speak for him. We can only accept his sacrifice humbly and not presume to speak for him with our unworthy tongues. Nor can.any of us speak politically for the G. I. wh@*fights tonight.” ~N Brings House Down That . brought the house down just as happened a minute before when Reynolds, explaining that he was an “amateur in politics,” said: “I realize that it is not customary for an amateur to appear on the platform of a political convention —but after all, the Republicans set the precedent last month when they presented many, many amateurs at their convention.” Then, with a note of reverence in his voice, Reynolds spoke of the G. I's with whom he has lived in combat. These men, he said, know what Nobody has to tell them. They have rediscovered
