Corporal Describes Rapid
Advance of 5th Army In italy.
Cpl. John LaMar of Indianapolis, member of an 88th infantry division wire section whose task was to keep up communications during the 5th army drive through Italy, related that the line moved so fast “the Germans slept in a house one night and we moved in for lunch the next day.” Cpl. LaMar is’ the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest LaMar, 30 N. Elder st.
Veteran of long service in the Pacific with a marine aviation unit, T. Sgt. William Hope is visiting his parents, Mr. and ‘Mrs. L. E. Hope, 43 N, Gray st. He enlisted Dec. 8, 1641, and served with the “Black Sheep” squadron in the Russell islands and in the New Hebrides.
