pected to attain a height of at least 50 feet in a very few years. Other fast-growing trees for shade include the Red Maple, Silver Maple, Red Oak, Pin Oak, Scarlet Oak and the American Elm, While the willows are rapid growing, they will soon usurp the entire yard. Other frees that are

Trees properly transplanted then sort of adapt themselves to their new homes before winter, and are ready to g0 when spring comes. Care must be taken to provide adequate drainage and good topsoil. Broken or injured roots should be cut back to sound wood. The hole should be dug at least Yne foot wider than the spread of the root system and one foot deeper than the depth of the bail. Place a foot of good topsoil in the bottom of the hole. The tree should be placed in the center of the hole and set so that it stands about three inches higher than surrounding existing surface of the soil. After plafing the tees, fill the hole with topsoil, workifig it well around the roots with a blunt stick and settle well by watering. Little pruning of the tree top need be done other than fo remove
