The same is true of other moist foods, such as ‘salads of chicken, egg or potato, salad dressings, cream sauce, cream puffs, custard ple, custard-filled cake or other soft moist cakes. These foods frequently are the cause of food poisoning in hot weather simply because many peo{ple do not realize the need for {keeping them cold after cooking. When prepared in large quantity for serving a crowd, cooked food is too often left standing in a warm kitchen. Many people do not understand lthat the lightly cured, pre-cooked, | ready-to-serve ham now on the market must be kept refrigerated. A common kind of bacteria causing food poisoning when such foods are not kept cold does not show up in the taste or odor of food.

When washing neckwear or other small items, save on hot water and soap by using a quart-sized mason jar. Fill the jar with sudsy water, immerse the neckwear, screw on the top and agitate by shaking the jar. If these little things are laundered in a tub or bowl, the tendency is to squander both hot water and soap, two necessities which represent fuel and valuable materials used for war purposes. ¥ 8 82 8

Besides socialized medicine won't improve public health unless you can persuade the people to use its services—which they won't if they run true to form. The average man never ‘consults his doctor until he's half dead and the chances are he wouldn't consult a government agency with any bettgr regularity. . Why not sensible co-operation? The government can order «the people to see their doctors for a free checkup—and let the doctors take over from there,
