NOTED AT| AT POLLS
Primary” “Elections Held in Six States Today.
By UNITED PRESS
_ Voters in six states went to the polls in primary elections today while incomplete returns from yesterday’s Minnesota balloting showed Gov, Edward J, Thye, successor to former Gov. Harold E,’Stassen, far ahead in his race for the Republican gubernatorial nomination, Primaries were scheduled today in
Michigan, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Oklahoma, Utah and Washington.
Returns from 1366 of Minnesota's ‘3703 precincts gave Thye 102356, John C. Peterson 10,068, James 'M. Scarsdale 3018. Voters also chose candidates for congress, lieutenant governor and other state officers. Lack of issues and personalities were blamed for public apathy in the primary. Little Interest In Michigan, so little interest was manifest in the primary that in De-
sound air raid sirens to remind voters it was election day. Voters were to nominate candidates for governor, lieutenant governor, other state posts and congressional rep-| resentatives. A vote of less than 100,000 was forecast in Utah, where hotly-con-tested campeigns for the Republican and Democratic nominations for governor and a four-way fight for the CG. O. P. senatorial nomination was featured. Governor Herbert B. Maw, com-
