Two Sisters Love a Sailor
One Changes Heart, Weds A Sergeant at Loew's.
The story of “Two Girls and A Sailor” is a better than average musical through the efforts of newcomer June Allyson and Van Johnson, who looks like the boy who lives next door. It opened yesterday at Loew's. A galaxy of stars is thrown in for no increased price and includes such new and old as Jimmy (The Npse) Durante, Lena Horne, Gracie Allen, Jose Iturbi, Harry James and Xavier Cugat. Miss Allyson, whose voice might do to the men what Sinatra's does to the women, plays her first leading role with Gloria DeHaven, also in the top spot for the first time. The two play sisters have a long theatrical family history. Troupers, they came up through vaudeville to swanky night clubs as a singing team. The Inevitable Happens
Gloria, as Jean, is the younger of the two and is on the lookout for a ‘man with looks and money, preferably money. June, as Patsy, appoints herself guardian angel. The inevitable happens. The rich young man comes along in the person of Van Johnson, the sailor. The uniform hides a slight fortune of sixty million dollars which for the film's purposes could just as well been seventy million. The sisters fall in love with him, he first with Jean and then Patsy. Patsy discovers he is the “fair knight” of fortune. Tears and sorrow by Patsy as she feels she has lost her true love to Jean, Then Jean meets a sergeant from Texas who raises onions. She wants to raise onions too. And that ends the saga. Patsy gets the sailor and sixty million dollars. By VICTOR PETERSON.

Vallee's Bride Moves Out Again
HOLLYWOOD, June 23 (U. P.).— Betty Jane Greer, limpid-eyed film actress, yesterday packed her bags and moved out on her husband, Lt. Rudy Vallee, for the second time, declaring he wag “an incurable bachelor so I'll just get a divorce and make it legal.” Miss Greer made a similar hasty departure last March when she announced she and the grooning band leader had separated. Vallee dropped everything and rushed from the coast guard post where he was stationed to “talk things over” with his wife. They were reconciled two days later. “But this time I mean business,” declared the black-haired actress. “I intend to get a glivorce from Rudy on grounds of mental cruelty because I don’t want to start anything messy. * “He's just an incurable bachelor and I never should have married him in the first place. It just hasn't worked out.” Vallee, who recently announced
duties will be to co-ordinate cam-|
