3-Point Plan to Maintain Post-War Stability ~ For Farmer. NEW YORK, June 21 (U. P)~— depression
“ |program to maintain the farmer's
post-war economic stability. That goal can be achieved, the experts think, by national action to maintain full employment and stimulation of foreign trade, prevention and control of any inflationary farm land boom, and rigid thrift by farmers. Replying to a poll conducted by e Life Insurance Co. of America, e farm experts also recommended use of the farmers’ increased wartime income in the following ways: Payment of debts, larger war bond purchases, a set-up of rese for the future and adequate life insurance. The most favored control measures to prevent the land rise from getting out of hand are a capital gains tax on land sales, credit control and an educational program to emphasize the dangers. Two replies listed inflation control as vital for prevention of a slump, while two others favored devaluation of the dollar as a method of action. : A majority thought the end of the war is likely to witness a downtrend in price of agricultural products, which would throw the national economy out of balance, but at the same time they pointed out that “our knowledge gained during the last depression, and an overall world program for production and marketing of farm products should prevent any depression in agriculture.”
