on rat hunts at least once every month, or as often as is necessary to rid the area of rat-breeding places. Need a Plan
A plan should be developed to destroy all possible rat nesting places, advises Mr. Dyar. Lumber piles may be elevated 18 inches on horses; leaves and trash may be raked out from under play houses, porches, etc., and burned; vacant lots should be cleaned up. Harbors which cannot be eliminated should be “gassed” by running a hose from the auto exhaust pipe into the burrows. The carbon monoxide will do the rest. Ten to 15 minutes under the garage floor is sufficient to kill all the rats. Be sure no one is in the garage—better still, leave the doors wide open. This treatment may be used in rock gardens, under sand boxes, play houses, in infested stream banks, etc. Rats eat tomatoes because they want to quench their thirst. Kay Kyser Elopes With His Vocalist
HOLLYWOOD, June 9 (U. P.). —James (Kay) Kyser, “the ol professor,” and “Gorgeous Georgia” Ann Carroll, his vocalist, were on their honeymoon in an undisclosed spot today before their film-colony friends learned that they had eloped to Las Vegas, Nev, where they were married early yesterday. Paul Mosher, Kyser's agent, was as surprised as anyone to learn of the elopement. Kyser held a speeding ticket in one hand and a marriage license in the other as they went through the impromptu marriage ceremony, witnessed by two deputy sheriffs. Kyser, whose real name of James was listed on the marriage license, gave his age as 38 and his home as Rocky Mount, N. C. Miss Carroll gave her age as 24 and her home as Los Angeles, It was th first marriage for both. .
