Educator Speaks At P.-T. A. Congress
NEW YORK, May 24 (U.P) .— John W. Studebaker, United States commissioner of education, told members of the National Congress of Parents and Teachers yesterday {that “it is perfectly possible for the federal government to provide in the financial support of education in the United States without attempting to exercise any objectionable control either of teaching personnel or of curriculum and teaching content.” . He urged development of a central educational authority in each state for post-war plan and administration of federal aid if it is offered.

Speaking at the 48th annual convention of the congress, Mr. Studebaker said he based his assertion on “the government's experience over many years in which there has been federal participation in the support of education through grants-in-aid to the states for vocational education.” - “There is every likelihood” he said, “that the federal government will continue financial aid to the
