DALLAS, Tex, May 12 (U. P.. —Herbie Kay, 40-year-old nationally famous dance band leader and former husband of screen star, Dorothy Lamour, died here yesterday after a lengthy illness. Kay, who leaves a widow, the former Betty Denning, of Dallas, and his mother, Mrs. Katherine Kay, of Menteno, Ill, was a_native of Illinois, and got his musical start at Northwestern university, when he formed a campus band. He married Miss Lamour in 1935 when she was a vocalist in his band and the two were divorced four years later.
