Ogden, Jr. - Since that time, many of the children who first took part in the service have married and become parents. Now their children, a second generation, are singing the service. Although the sun will rise “officially” at about 6:15 a. m. tomorrow, the Easter sunrise servfces on the Circle are scheduled to begin at 6:30 a. m.

The monument sunrise service has been mentioned so often nationally that it is said now to be considered one of the city’s institutions in the manner of the monument itself and historic Christ church across the way. The service is an Easter tribute in song in “which neither spoken prayers, Bible readings nor addresses have any part. While approximately 1000 persons, including instrumentalists and vocal soloists, perform, the occasion really belongs to the children. As the sun comes up, about 6:30 tomorrow morning, the carillon in the Scottish Rite cathedral] will play as will the bells of Christ church and Station WIRE, Mrs, Carl B. Moore will sing J. Rosamond Johnson's “Crucifixion” at the foot of the rugged cross; and there will be solos likewise by Jane Butler, who has sung in the service since childhood. Girl trumpeters will announce the procession of choristers pouring out of the monument.

Pageantry to Uphold

The pledge to the Christian flag and a salute to Old Glory will be given and the congregation will sing “The Star-Spangled Banner.” The cross will be hung with lilies. Small children, who understand the

While the pageant, “The Open Tomb,” will be portrayed in costume under the direction of the Rev. R. G. Skidmore, the service is a community celebration which also includes hymns, prayers and talks. Both churches and schools will cooperate in the presentation, Trumpeters of the high school, hailing the dawn, will lead the processional across the field to the improvised stage and the tomb. The choirs and congregation will then sing the hymn, “Christ Arose,” under the direction of Robert Durham of the high school faculty. The resurrection story will be portrayed with Mrs. Merit Osborne and Mrs. Earl McCormick as the Marys at the tomb, Norman Rumanch as the angel and John W. Lewis as trumpeter. Mrs, Eugene Cross, Perry township grade school music supervisor, will direct the children’s choir in the hymn, “Christ the Lord Is Risen Today.” There will be a prayer by the Rev. C. M Bless and Scripture by the Rev. R. G. Sizemore, the Rev. John W. Rowlan and the congregation. Mr. Lewis will direct the choir in the anthem, “Easter Allelulia,” by Geible and Eugene Mogle, Sibelius’ “O Morn of Beauty.” The Rev. R. H.
