H. A. Hollopeter to Succeed Eastman.
Governor Schricker today urged President = Roosevelt to appoint Herschel A. Hollopeter, traffic director of the Indiana State Champer of Commerce, to ‘the interstate commerce commission to fill the vacancy created by the death of Joseph B. Eastman. As the commission already has six Democrats in its 11-man membership, the law requires the appointment of a Republican or an independent. Mr. Hollopeter is a Republican. Governor Schricker said Mr. Hollopeter has the support here of both the Democratic and Republican state organizations. the State Chamber of Commerce, among others, also have urged the appointment,

d SPECIAL CALL
Lauer Slates G.0.P. Caucus To Block Bills Other Than Soldier Vote.
John L. Lauer, newly elected Republican state: chairman, echoed the sentiments of legislative leaders today that the special session of the Indiana general assembly set for April 11, be limited to passage of ‘a state soldiers’ vote bill. Mr. Lauet, who called a caucus of the-G. O. P. legislators for Monday preceding the session's opening on Tuesday, sent: a letter to each senator and representative yesterday pointing out that the state committee had recommended strict limitation of the session. Hobart Creighton, speaker of the house,’ said-flatly at his home near Warsaw that the session would last only “one or two days.” “I'm of the opinion that the majority will favor limiting the session to soldiers’ vote legislation and that 4t will not last more than a day or two,” Creighton said.
Dawson Skeptical
While Mr. Creighton and Mr. Lauer expressed no concern over chances of a lengthy session, Lt. Gov. Charles M. Dawson, presiding officer of the state senate, said he expected the session to last the entire 40 days if any legislation other than the soldiers’ vote bill were introduced. - Mr. Creighton, however, holds the key to this situation. When the roll call for bills is made, he can refuse to hand them down for reading. Of, if the Republican majority choses, it could appoint a so-called “kill committee” and refer all bills which are introduced to that group. Although Governor Schricker was reported to have begun work on his opening message and instructions to both houses, he said today he did not know yet what he would say.
W.C.Mabee Quits After 42 Years
FORTY-TWO YEARS of service with the Indianapolis Water Co., ended today with the retirement of William C. Mabee, chief engineer of the utility. During the years he played a major role.in the development of the city's water system.
Starting work as construction engineer at the White river purification plant, he became assistant engineer in 1917 and chief engineer in 1928. Mr. Mabee has twice been honored for outstanding achievement. In 1938 he received the John M! Diven medal from the American Water Works association tor his work on water main’ specifications. In the same year the Indiana section of the association

2 Circle Presents Versatile Band and Entertainers.
It's Dorsey week on the Circle theater stage again with T.D.s younger brother, Jimmy, taking the spotlight. If you like sweet swing and real boogie-woogie, Jimmy with his saxophone and the rest of the boys make those instruments talk. But Peg Leg Bates, Negro dancer, steals the show with some of the most unusual stunts ever seen. His wooden pég moves so fast in tapping out hot jazz numbers that you really wonder what he could do with two good legs Bates’ imitation of a dive bomber is the most amazing, especially when he.dahces off the stage on his imitation leg only.
Imitators Features
The gag side of the show features Coley Worth and Marcia who imitate Hitler, Hirohito and the Inner Sanctum radio program. For the Sinatra-type fans is the baritone voice of Paul Carley who sings “My Heart Tells Me,” “How Sweet You Are” and “Besame Mucho.” Gladys Tell, pretty songstress, adds the favorites, “When They Asked About You,” “Shoo, Shoo, Baby” and “There'll Be a Hot Time in Old Berlin.” One of the orchestra's best numbers is “Holiday for Strings,” featuring the sax section and led by Jimmy himself.
Paul Carley sits with Jimmy Dorsey's orchestra now on the Circle theater stage.
