““Indorses Mayor for Gover- == nor, Lauds Army, Business Experience.

City hall's political vanguard, the Victory committee, today threw its, campaign weight* behind Mayor ¢ Tyndall in a formal indorsement of} his candidacy for the eubsrustorta)

. nomination. Although the comniittee ‘is com- | posed of top-ranking Tyndall ad-| ministration electioneers, it has = fostered the impression that its ac~| tivities are not controlled from the’ mayor's office, Advised of the committee's not-; too-surprising announcement, Mayor | Tyndall replied: “I greatly eppreci-| ate the action of the Victory com-! mittee in its indorsement of me as! a candidate for governor. The proposal, coming from a group so! sincerely interested in good governwent, Is one in which any Hoosier would take pride.”

Mayor's Record Lauded

The highly commendatory in-| dorsement described Mayor Tyndall as “the strongest candidate available for nomination for the governorship of the state of Indiana.” It lauded the mayor's experience as “a military leader and business executive” and suggested that he “can be depended upon to view!S with sympathy and understanding |Z _the problems of service men return-|= ing to civilian life” Tt likewise |Z claimed that he had “demonstrated |= his capacity as an extcutive by his! = sccomplishments as the chief executive of Indianapelis.” The political-minded Victory S committeemen made an apparent|= bid for the rural vote, by citing the |S fact that Mayor Tyndall, “being the! 2 owner and operator of two Indiana = = farms, can be depended upofi to!= give careful consideration to the(S problems of agriculture.”

. Served in Three Wars

The indorsement further praised the mayor's views on democracy and free enterprice, implied that he would, if elected, spearhead a return to the “fundamental principles of constitutional government, and commended him for achieving success “socially and economically,” despite the handicap of beginning his career “without any of the advantages usually associated with wealth and opportunity.” Mayor Tyndall's military exploits, covering three wars, were likewise listed.
