Resigns to Accept Akron, 0., Call. ~

The Rev. William C. Nelson, known as an interdenominational worker in Indianapolis, has resigned as minister of the Immanuel Evangelical and Reformed church to assume the pastorate of the Trinity ois Evangelical and Reformed -church, Akron, O.

Nelson He helped organize the South Side Community center and took a summer course at Garret Biblical institute as a representative of the church federation. When he returned from Garrett, he went about Indianapolis lecturing and showing maps ard charts in order to acquaint church people with the religious scene in the city.

The difficult problem of where to place new churches is handled by the committees on comity of the church federation and the Indiana Council of Churches on which the Rev. Mr. Nelson serves. He is chairman of the committee on benevolent institutes of the

American tank force is operating in the jungles of northern Burma with Lt, Gen. Joseph W. Stilwell's army. In its first five days of action—between March 3 and 8—it killed, roughly, 500 Japs. It did more than that. In three days of gruelling effort, under .almost constant harassing fire, this newly formed tank outfit shot its way through 20 miles of Japaneseheld territory to join Brig. Gen. Frank Merrill's American infantry deep in the Japanese rear—a feat of extraordinary difficulty considering the thickness and virtual roadlessness of the Burmese jungle. Stilwell's tankists were escorted by Chinese infantry, which often rode the backs of tanks in the style popularized by the Russians. SWISS - GERMAN FRONTIER, March 14 (U. P)— Allied air raids have wiped out or heavily damaged virtually all of Berlin's dwellings except those in the northern suburbs, leaving 2,000,000 Berliners roofless, according to Swiss travelers returning from the German capital. The eyewitnesses sald the latest raids destroyed the palace of the former crown prince, the Reichstag, the Borsig locomotive works, the Siemens electrical works, and Tge “Dom,” Berlin's biggest church,
