Survey Shows 39 Per Cent Of Public Supports
Prepay Plan.
NEW ‘YORK, March 8 (U.P.).— A survey by the National Physicians committee reported today that 63
States desire an easy-paymeént method for doctors’ bills, and 32 per cent favored federal plans for such a program. pi The survey, compiled by the Opinion Research Corp., Princeton, N. J., was disclosed at the 1944 conference on the extension eof medical care by Administrator John M. Pratt. Of the group favoring easier payment plans, 39 per cent favored prepaid medical care, Chief disagreement with a federally controlled medical plan was indicated in the queries regarding choice of doctors. Those surveyed believed that a government plan would curtail their choice of doctors and 58 per cent of these said such a curtailment would not be satisfactory.
Chusches Cited
Included in the survey was one general question regarding government control of schools, churches, labor unions, and the medical profession. Answers to this section while 46 per cent favored government control of labor unions, only 4 per cen Ee erm: done trol of churches, 23 cent. of schools and 28 pey cent es f the med ical profession.
