housed there, When Mrs. Ott became dissptisfied with the work at Madison, they returned to their home: at Birdseye. The husband, told authorities that there Mrs. Ott set fire to trash in the attic and after collecting $1000 from an insurance company for the destruction of their house they re~ turned to the Toledo, O., state hospital where they previously had worked. : Collects Insurance Mrs, Ott soon became angry at other employees and declared that “I'm going to get rid of some of these damned attendants,” the husband told authorities, He said she again started a fire in ag linen closet and they left the next day. They started to work at Logan- || sport on Feb. 5 and on Feb. 22 Mrs. Ott, according to. her husband, started another fire which was quickly extinguished. The next day she started the fire which finally brought about her apprehension, he said.
Authorities said that "attention first was attracted.to Mrs. Ott when she tried to place the blame.-on another attendant. However, after her arrest, she admitted setting the fire herself. : State Personnel Director Dudley Smith said that Mrs. Ott had never stayed at one institution long enough to take a merit system examination or complete her working test, She was classified as ‘a provisional employee at the three institutions at which she worked. Mr. Ott passed a merit system examination at the Richmond state hospital, Mr, Smith said.
