Three Indianapolis men have been promoted, according to a war department announcement today. Charles R. Gillespie, 808 Virginia ave., and Charles E. Shepherd, 4444 Guilford ave., were advanced from captains to majors, and Robert A. Gerber, 3537 N. Pennsylvania st, from second to first lieutenant, Other Indiana men receiving pro‘motions are Kenneth E, Carpenter of Oakland City from captain to major and William H. Mays of Goshen and Harold F. Hess of Terre Haute from second to first lieutenants. Capt. Francis K. Bowser of Warsaw was ordered to active duty.
