TRENTON, 0 Aug: 26 (U. P). ~—Federal government acquisition of one-fifth of the country’s’land area has “taken onthe proportiens of a national peril,” becdiise of the consequent tax exemption of such properties, the New Jersey Taxpayers association said today. The association said it ‘has launched a nation-wide campaign for legislation requiring annual pay-
equivalent. to the full amount of taxes on all property acquired for war purposes, and warned that unless the trend toward “wholesale tax exemption” is turned back the post-war period “will surely see the nation studded with many blighted areas and ghost towns.” The association said it started its campaign after a tabulation of New Jersey property revealed that 18.6 per cent was tax-free: because of federal ownership, and that such acquisition had absorbed over $60,000,000 in tax ratables,
